Percocet is a narcotic pain medication that contains acetaminophen and oxycodone. Percocet is a prescription painkiller that's prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain and is a very effective pain reliever.

Oxycodone is a narcotic analgesic (painkiller) that's used quite often in the medical field for the treatment of pain.

Percocet is a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen which is a milder pain relieving medication. Acetaminophen by itself is used for the relief of moderate or mild pain for example headaches, achy muscles and toothaches. Acetaminophen also reduces fever.

Percocet is sometimes prescribed to patients that need continuous pain relief from cancer. Because Percocet can cause dependency individuals that abuse the drug for the euphoric effects risk addiction. Many people use Percocet for legitimate reasons and legally have been prescribed the painkiller to treat their illness pain symptoms. As long as the patient uses Percocet as prescribed and stays under their doctor's care dependency shouldn't become an issue.
