Man Mutilates Own Genitalia While Under the Influence of Shrooms

Mushrooms that contain psilocybin can produce intense hallucinations and can cause other extremely delusional erratic behavior when they're ingested. Recently, the Detroit Free Press reported a man from Ohio mutilated part of his genitals while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

According to the article, authorities found the 41 year old man outside Ypsilanti Middle School on his knees and from the midriff down he was bleeding, part of his genitals were gone.

The young man had to be taken to the hospital and was "close to death" according to the report. This just goes to show you how delusional a person's behavior may become when they're under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms. Fortunately the man was found by authorities and was able to receive medical care and was recovering according to the article.

Hallucinogenic mushrooms contain psilocybin which is a chemical that's responsible for the hallucinations and other physical and psychological effects a person experiences when they consume these mushrooms. Psilocybin mushrooms are found in certain areas of the United States, South America, and Mexico so they're not difficult to obtain.

Hallucinogenic mushrooms are ingested and can even be prepared as tea. Because they have such a bitter taste, some people will even dip them in chocolate to cover up the taste. Psilocybin mushrooms are abused for their hallucinogenic effects but as you see from the article mentioned above, the consequences can lead to extremely delusional behavior that could possibly result in death.

According to National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), when a person ingests psilocybin within twenty minutes they feel the physical effects that can remain for around six hours. Physical effects include nauseousness, vomiting, weakened muscles, drowsiness and loss of coordination. The psychological effects of psilocybin are dangerous because individuals hallucinate and can't tell the difference from fantasy and reality. Individuals that eat psilocybin mushrooms can also experience panic reactions if they consume large amounts of them.
