Addiction Plan Treatment

If you are suffering from an addiction problem, whether it is drugs, alcohol or even a sexual addiction, then you are not alone. Medically classified as a disease, an addictive disorder can be treated and cured, and there may even be funding available for the cost of your addiction plan treatment. For many people suffering from chemical dependency problems and alcoholism, the condition can leave them without friends, cause problems with families, and can cost a job and even a home. Therefore many people who need treatment are not in a position to pay for it.

Addiction Recovery

There are many government and state programs set up to help pay for drug rehabilitation and addiction treatment. Many will provide ongoing funding for an indefinite amount of time, since the programs generally last until the patient is cured, which usually falls in the range 3 to 6 months but can take longer depending on the severity of the condition, whether there are also mental health problems, and the level of natural addictive tendency displayed by the patient.

A plan for addiction treatment, regardless of the specific behaviour or substance that the patient is addicted to, will usually follow a three phase pattern. The first phase revolves around helping the patient to stop the addictive behaviour. This may mean a period of detox to cleanse the body of drugs, or could be stopping a patient with a sexual addiction from acting out. Once this phase is over, the patient will then receive therapy to treat the addiction.

Therapy can consist of both 1-on-1 and group sessions like the famous 12-step program for Alcoholics Anonymous. For those with a sexual addiction that are in a relationship, there sometimes will be the option of sessions that the partner can also attend, and sometimes in cases of substance abuse, family therapy will be available. The patient will also be educated on the nature and the impact of addiction disorders and will be encouraged to become active in society and with their family to build up a support network and to give the patient the goals often lacking for an addict.
